Menopause actually refers to the entire transition a woman goes through when she's perimenopausal all the way to being postmenopausal. But a woman becomes postmenopausal when she has gone 12 months with no period. That's when she crosses over.
This is associated with an extreme drop in estrogen levels. And as you guys are probably already aware, can cause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbance, loss in bone density, weight gain, muscle aches, joint aches, even changes in our biomarkers like our cholesterol and glucose levels.
If we can help and get treatment to you, management to you, before you go through the transition, that would be the best benefit to a woman. I really believe in educating women before they have their final period so that they know what to expect. And if they are a candidate for hormone therapy, we can get them on it soon.
I practice only evidence-based medicine, so what I give you and treat you with will be based on good clinical guidance. Give us a call and book a consult.
